This quick read is full of nuggets that would be applicable to those in or out of military service. In particular the personal stories of his journey with school, service, and his finances would serve as a helpful guide for those in the 20-30 age range. This book is a great starter book and could be used easily to help families that are just beginning to talk about finances together.
Rose defines financial concepts well by breaking them down into bite size pieces with very brief actionable summaries of each chapter.

By applying the overarching theme of the IET Soldier’s Handbook, this work truly does serve the enlisted or civilian in a basic training mind set of finances. While the book is now over five years old, that has not stopped the resources and websites references from being outdated. The wisdom he offers about the reader’s full need to have information and knowledge to make informed decisions about his/her own life path with money continues to be pertinent today.
